Description: Sand-dune hike to super-fun reef break & paddle out to 3-4' super-fun surf.
Best thing about Margaret River Surfing: the reefs peel for ages and you surf it alone with a friend (since there are so many good spots).

Here's my last photo from Australia, a sunset at a sweet spot in the northern margaret river surf region. This place is really difficult to find, but definitely worth it.
Reef break pushing out clean 3'-4' waves. The day before was double overhead and crazy.
Surfer: Phil Heming. Photographer: Peter Balwdwin.
These were taken the first official day of "winter" (June 21st) at Bronte beach out near Bondi, in the heart of Sydney. The surfers were a bunch of random local rippers.

Indo's still sick, obviously. But the crowds are definately back, maybee more than ever. The off season crowd seemed worse to me in places than last year's surf season crowd. Anyway, as the wet season came to an end this year some decent smaller surf came thru.
a pic of me in Bali, taken by InWater in march 2008. I pulled it. Name is Joseph Arsenault.

I'm studying on exchange at the University of Western Australia right now, so I thought I'd send in a few photos of the surf on the West Coast of Australia, and a couple pictures of East Coast Australia from a couple months ago. I'm going on a surf trip to Margaret River this weekend, and the waves on Friday are forecasted to be 10-12 Feet with 15+ ft. sets (I won't be surfing that day! But the WQS Masters will be on at the main break there with Sunny Garcia etc...), so I'll submit some of the photos I take there soon.
These photos are from Easter Weekend (March) and February: Port Macquarie (East Coast), Margaret River (various spots), and Lancelin (a town 2 hours north of Perth). The waves at Margaret River (South West Australia) were 6 foot that day, Lancelin was 8-10 foot on the reef, and Port Macquarie was 6 foot. Notice the mad scramble for the waves at Margaret River during the Easter weekend!
