These photos were taken with 15$ throway disposables on a trip to costa rica in november. We surfed on the nicoya penninsula. The first three photos are taken at potrero grande, you have to get there by boat... The wind was blowing pretty hard offshore and some head high sets were coming through. The 4th photo is from a semi-secret beach break - there some under 18 professionals there getting photographed and videoed, doing 360's, getting barreled - it was amazing and humbling to watch. kevin dube

I finally scanned in a few of my own Nias photos from the summer of 2001. These beauties were taken on the biggest day of the six weeks I was there.
The previous night a bunch of the losmen that weren't on stilts got water and sand pushed into the main floors from the swell surging into the bay (locals were saying it had been several years since that had happened).
After surfing in the morning, a few of us rented a small boat around 10:00 and I snapped these off using my Nikon F70 and a 100-300mm Tamron lens.
Many, many broken boards that day.
I love these pics! You don't often get to see this angle of the wave at Nias - most photos are from the land with the wave going away from you which doesn't really give it justice.
Enjoy,

just got back from a month in Indo, surfing in Bali, and a boat trip to Nusa Lombognin, Lombok, Sumbawa. The photos of the waves were at Desert Point on Lombok, the the other pics are small wave days on Bali. The boat trip was for one week, $250 USD, and it included food and beers. 6 of the 7 days we did not see another surfer. Noel Fox - http://www.cowieandfox.com

I just got back from Costa Rica. My arms are still sore for the four-six hours of surfing I did daily. Unbelievable. I'm not sure how I can put back on a wetsuit. Andrea McGowan

I'm a proud Canadian who lived down in Houston, Texas for about
3 years. Believe it or not, there's surf, and let me tell ya, it sure can take off! We had a
storm roll through last june, Tropical Storm Allison, it cause billions of dollars in floods
but allowed for some SOLID surf. submitted by Scott McLeod
