We had a wicked wind of over 105km/hr. I was out from 8am til about noon in my surf kayak. Very tough conditions due to a side rip that was right on shore. Yes, it was very narly to say the least. Here is a pix of a local surfer here , Al Box. There were many waves that were almost double the size of this one that Al caught here. No localism here, just good comraderie and happy to have some waves.

Eoin's last wave in yesterday [Apr/08/2007]. Too bad I didn't get in a bit sooner as it would have been great to have some photos of us on some of the bigger outside sets. It looks as dark and cold as it was, but all good times! And for once the paddle was not as bad as it looks. The wind was off shore and there was some good size on some of the bigger sets. These photos don't really show how big it actually was as I only shot for about 2 minutes before we left.

post big south east blow east side van island..... dec 2006........ theres a couple hour swell window right after the wind dies... and this is what it looks like when u can time it right... lol.. well its good for the inside... lol

Dec 27, 2006, Marc Fuller, myself and 2 others got A-side as good as any beach gets for that size... All day long, through all tides, and not a breath a wind - I thought the island sunk - it was that good! Merry Xmas. Dom
