Horne Lake
The access to and the crags themselves have been purchased from the Texada Land corp, by the leaseholders around the lake. They have formed a strata council which is now in negotiations with local area climbers to come up with an access & usage agreement.
The Strata Council and Property Maintenance Committee have received information from Access BC re access to the climbing areas. The council has not made any decisions on this matter and have not authorized climbing.
The strata council has asked climbers not to access the crags until an agreement has been reached although it is my understanding that they are not calling the RCMP to ticket for trespass.
The strata council will have your car towed if it is left overnight.
July 2003: nothing is resolved. Some council members have taken to writing down climber's licence plate #s, whatever that means but I don't think they're into towing or ticketing this year.
Horne Lake crag is located on the north west end of Horne lake
directions: On the new Island Hwy travel 12 km north of the Qualicum Beach / Port Alberni exit. Turn west off the hwy and follow the signs toward Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park. Black top turns to well maintained gravel. 8 or 10 km along the road, just before you reach the park, you will see the faces off to the right. There is a logging road spur off the main road. Access the base to the left on the spur for aprox 100 yards and then up a worn path.

I have to go back an shoot a lot more photos here. I didn't do justice to the amassing overhang on this route. rain chased my digital camera off the mountain, but this climber wasn't getting wet. Guaranteed.
