Nanaimo River upper deck
aka: the Boar's hole
Nanaimo River crag is located where the power lines cross the Nanaimo River. Over a dozen bolted routes up to 12 or 14m and include cracks. Steep trail down to a tight trail along the base.
directions: Between Ladysmith and Nanaimo follow the Bungy Zone signs off the Island highway west up the Nanaimo Lakes road. From the hwy go 2.5 km, past the Zone and Hub Paving gravel pit.
Park under the power lines and hike under the yellow gate and down the lane way to the edge of the river canyon. Top access to the right and path down is immediately to the left. Very steep path works to the right.
Up into the seventies this was a popular place to dump cars. The evidence lives on, glass and chrome everywhere. Some of the old chassis have made it right down to the Highway. That river rolls boulders in flood.
